Let us meet the family of Mishal. Mishal is an eighth grader; this is the age of exploration and unlimited potential. This is also the age of learning life and understanding our world in our own phrases for the first time. Let us hear her story today.
Hey! I am Mishal, I am a daughter of well-educated and professional parents. My big brother is studying medicine abroad. Although when it was time for his admission he had good options available in my own country but my dad was impressed by the education system abroad and he also wanted my bro to settle down soon after graduation and post-graduation at the same place. He says, "It feels so good to tell others that my son is studying at such a high-caliber place". But if you ask me, we miss each other very much, also my mom remains sad now, it's too early for him to leave us for good, though our education system is fairly well, people do come to our country to get an education too, but I think "My Father is impressed".
My mom is lovely but she thinks that I feel her lovely just because she is my Mama. I look at her as an outstanding mother who is caring for us as well as the best organizer of home affairs. She is a successful businesswoman, she manages her personal and professional lives well. In this process, I feel sometimes she suffers too and cannot take enough rest. She has a house help lady who stays with us. I can see the expressions of wow in many eyes for my Mama as she is living an ideal life but she is impressed with the beautiful skin of her sister-in-law who stays at home and gets more time to take care of herself. I am not sure but many times I saw Mama talking about my aunt's skin, that is like a standard of beauty for my mom. Is my "mama just impressed"?
My bro is a genius guy. He was simple when he lived here with us but now he always uses high-level brands since he joined the med school abroad, as he doesn't like to give an impression that his country is inferior/poorer than the country he lives in. Sometimes his expenses break the bank of my dad but in his love, we all adjust. I am not sure that the branded clothes and shoes can show something seriously taken at least at a student level, but I know "my bro is impressed".
I am the last one in the family. My childhood best buddy is my nanny who is very kind. She loves Angelina Julie, right to the extent that she can do anything to watch her. She can keep on watching her, madly, sitting stunned and staring. She dreams about her, she talks about her, even the limit is, that she sometimes talks to her in her own thoughts. she goes everywhere, there is a chance to see Angelina's single glance. She admires her at a level that feels to me so unreal. She talks about her like she is either a Wonder Woman, a fairytale queen, or someone high above the human level. Yeah you guessed right, "She is too impressed"
My love is Mini Cooper. Yeah, I know being a girl it's unexpected, but I believe Mini Cooper is the car made for girls exclusively. I mean look at its size. Best in best for girls' day outs. No car can be compared to my love of life my Mini Cooper, one day I will buy it and I will keep it with so much love and care. None in the world like Mini Cooper actually. Yes, " I am impressed" , " I am in awe" and " I am in love with it".
Quran as always defined it in a very precise and effective way. ALLAH alone is actually the only majesty of this world from which it is worthy to be impressed. He is supreme and He is the One we love and admire before anyone and much much high above anything and anyone else in life. If this order is not correct in anyone’s life, life will be difficult definitely and peace of mind will be rare in such a life.
Today we just want to give all of us food of thought to think about how far it is okay to be impressed with others, other than ALLAH subhanahu wa ta’ala, what are the healthy limits and what are the signs of disease to recognize. We are lucky to have a repeated reminder in our lives in the form of adhan, which says “ALLAH o Akbar”, the perfect words to wake us from all types of tricks shaitan put to impress us often.
Fantasies, love, and admiration in life change with the age of younger people, and there are specific patterns of admiration in adult life, for each person.
To what extent do these seeds of admiration remain healthy and at what boundary does it become unhealthy? This is very very important to recognise.
Difference exists between simple admiration and the heart which is in awe blindly for something or someone. The first one can be ignored to say as normal but the second one is a disease. A termite which is eating healthy brain potentials. We belong to Ummat al Wasat, everything that disbalances the correct order of life does not go well with our principles.
