Al Waali - The Governing Guardian
Al Waali is the One who takes care of all the affairs and He is in total control. His commands have to be fulfilled. His decisions are final. Al Waali is the Ruler who has His hold on all affairs and is the main planner of all matters.
The word waali والي is used in Arabic for “Governer” who has all the control and authority in his area, who is capable of all required actions and is responsible for taking care of his concerned part completely. By understanding this basic definition we can get some idea of this name of ALLAH subhanahu wa ta’ala.
Al Wali الولي and Al Waali الوالي are from the same root of و ل ي yet they show us two different aspects of ALLAH subhanahu wa ta’ala’s characters. It is interesting to know both, as both are equally important practically in our lives.
Al Wali الولي tells us that Allah is Near to us as a Protective Friend. No one is our loving support more than Him.
Al Waali الوالي tells us the aspects of ruling authority, ownership, and perfect organizational capacities of our Loving Rab.
Al Waali is the main planner and sole controller of our lives. His plans, decisions, organization of all affairs, and timings are totally governing our lives. His decisions cannot be changed except what He wills.
Human share in this name is twofold.
First is by understanding that ALLAH is our life's sole planner and governing power. We need to submit in front of Him with all our hearts and souls. Whether His decision looks favorable to us or not we need to take them with open heart. This is the harder acceptance but this level is required.
Secondly, about the responsibilities He has given to us as His assistant on this earth. Whatever we are responsible for in our lives and whatever the role we are assigned here we should make our full efforts to fulfill those. Every one of us has a unique capacity and accordingly, Al Waali distributed the responsibilities. It is time to understand our responsibilities, value our individually chosen roles, and be more efficient to them.
