Al Maany’ - The Absolute Defending Authority

Al Maany' is the One who secures by preventing harm. He blocks every calamity not meant for us through His rahmah, protection and care.

Al Maany prevents us from everything that may harm us, including saving us from bringing harm to our religion and our worldly life. ALLAH, the Almighty, is the Preventer of the believers, defending them, protecting them, supporting them in every difficulty, and granting them success in Dunya and Akhirah by acknowledging their sincere efforts.

He is a Preventer, meaning He places us in a state of protection and safety. He is the Preserver of our hearts and souls in all easy and hard phases of life. He is the One whose support can keep us sane and sound.

So, immunity is a feeling of security and reassurance, not expecting injustice and not being left alone in trials of life. No harm reaches us except what is written for us and the duration of the trial is also written by our Rab. All extras are surely pushed away from us and numerous are they indeed, we cannot realise them.

The feeling of being secure is a wonderful feeling. We feel that we are under ALLAH’s protection, that ALLAH is with us, that ALLAH is supporting us, and that no one can reach us.

The other meaning of Al Maany' is to prevent the approval of something which we like and ask for but ALLAH subhanahu wa ta’ala with His most widespread knowledge and wisdom, knows that is not suitable for us, and not acceptable for our long-term goodness. 

The human share in this name is preserving ourselves from ALLAH's disobedience and being cautious about defending ourselves from our enemies i.e. Shaitan and evil desires of our nafs. These enemies can seriously deceive us if we are not defensive enough and may push us away in our relationship with ALLAH. This is the ultimate harm we need to prevent at all costs.
